Blair Atholl's equestrian heritage stretches back to when the Goodman family acquired the farm in the mid 1960’s. During this time Blair Atholl’s most famous equine resident was Peralta, who retired here as a stud stallion. Peralta was one of the best sprinters of the time in South Africa and was bred by Derek Goodman. After the Player family acquired Blair Atholl, they not only retained the beauty of the property, but also further developed the stables and paddocks. Today the tradition is as strong as ever, with resident Stable and Equestrian Manager Brendan McNevin. The stables are located in the center of Blair Atholl just off the main boulevard. Homeowners that own horses have the convenience of stabling their horses right on their doorstep.
Thoroughbred horses have long been associated with Blair Atholl. The beautiful existing stables have been home to hundreds of yearlings in that time which have been taken from the National Sales and prepared for the racing industry. The stables also provide first-rate post-operative care where the horses are able to recuperate in large individual paddocks with superb grazing. Homeowners have the pleasure and convenience of having their favorite horse on their doorstep, with the added peace of mind knowing that their horses will receive the finest care.
